8pm Free Filipino Cultural Theatrical Production at The Bowling Barn - KAMBAYOKA ARTISTS RESOURCE TRAINING SERVICES (K-ARTS) performs “KARIALA,” a showcase of authentic dances, traditional songs, and rituals of Tribal Filipinos. The artists have performed at theater festivals in cities all over the Philippines and South Korea. They have also performed in many areas around the Unites States since 2001. Recent performances have been in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. K-ARTS is a non-profit cultural organization based in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. The aim of K-ARTS is to entertain and educate its audiences of the colorful, unique, and distinctive Mindanao culture through theatrical productions and cultural dances. The group was established and organized in 2001 by Felix Tapongot, Executive Director, to pursue the vision in promoting the Kambayoka Theater Form. Other performers include Production Manager Joshua Maglasang, Musical and Technical Director Dick Yuzon, Associate Artistic Director Enielita Tapongot, Choreographers Michelle San Nicolas and Jieras Yuzon, and lead dancers and movers Aimee Maglasang, Carlo Cortez, and Raymund Maglasang. These artists will continue their cultural legacy through stage performances and through conducting seminar/workshops on creative dramatic arts, ethnic dances, creative music, and sounds. The show promises to be fun, entertaining, and educational for people of all ages. The Bowling Barn is located at 40625 Lakeview Drive in Big Bear Lake. 2pm Bear Valley Community Hospital presents The Better Breathers Club in the hospital cafeteria. Meetings are held the last Wednesday of every month. Living life well with COPD/Emphysema is possible, find out how. The Better Breathers Club is a support group that offers information about living with a Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease such as Emphysema or Chronic Bronchitis. 8am-5pm The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Big Bear Lake Flotilla 11-12 presents America’s Boating Course. Topics include: Boating Laws, Personal Safety Equipment, Trailering, Safe Boat Handling, Boating Problems, Navigation Rules, Personal Watercraft Safety, Local Knowledge, and more. The class meets at the Big Bear MWD Board Room at 40524 Lakeview Dr. It’s free , but the textbook is $20 (families & friends can share books). A nationally recognized, lifetime Certificate of Completion will be issued upon successful completion of this course. Many insurance carriers provide a discount to holders of this certificate.
