My Word
Wednesday, August 30th, 2006Hello from Big Bear!
I just got home from a gig down at the Convention Center here in Big Bear. It was Merchant Night and the beginning of Heritage Days. Our band (Skeleton Key for those of you that don’t know) played from 5PM to after 9PM. The crowd was very responsive and seemed to enjoy the music. We play all kinds of music, a little something for everyone. Country, Western, Folk, Rock-N-Roll, Blues, etc. A woman in the crowd grabbed her significant other and made him dance when we were playing “Brown Eyed Girl”. She danced right out of one of here shoes. You could see the the guy was not really into it. But he sucked it up and made some moves. I always like to see folks having a good time while listening to us play. I will look across the room and see someone singing along to some obscure folk tune that we are doing. Until about 4 years ago some of the tunes we play were unknown to me. Just when you think you know it all huh? Of course I have always said I don’t know it all, I know lots of stuff and I want to know more and I hope I never know it all. What would be the point of going on then? When you do get to know enough to pass along to the following generations, no body wants to listen to you anyway. So enjoy what you learn and pass it on to those that show an interest in learning what you have in your head. Don’t over do it though, you will just widen the gap.
Skeleton Key will be back at the Convention Center on Friday the 1st of September so make your plans to come out and enjoy the eclectic stylings of the local yokels that are Skeleton Key. You can check for future play dates at Skelton Key’s website> www.skeletonkeyband.com
See you in the spot light!
